Director: BETO BRANT. Synopsis: Friendly Fire tells the story of four friends - Miguel, Paulo, Osvaldo and Elói - that participated in the armed opposition to the military goverment, in the late 60's and early 70's. All of them have been arrested and tortured for it. The film starts today, showing what each of them has done with their lives. Miguel is the only one who is still politically active - he now works as an aid to a left wing congressman. One day, as going through pictures taken during a political gathering in a small town in the state of São Paulo, Miguel identifies the face of the man who tortured him and his friends, 25 years earlier - police officer Correia, who has been officialy reported dead in a plane accident a few years ago. Miguel invites his three companiors to go fishing in the small town, hiding at first the real reason for the trip. On their way there, he reveals his discovery to Paulo, Osvaldo and Elói, provoking various reactions in each one of them and establishing a conflict among the friends: they do not believe Correia is alive (obssessed, Miguel would be looking for a ghost) or wish he was truly dead. As this action unfolds, the film reconstructs in flashback sequences the lives of the four friends during what is known as "the lead years" of recent Brazilian history, describing the dramas and dilemmas of each one of them. We then learn that Lúcia, Miguel's wife at the time, was captured by the repression organs right after she decided to quit her political activities. The friends don't get over the conflict that has arisen among them, but continue their jouney and reach the small town. They begin their search for the man in the pictures, not knowning that, among the four of them, there's a secret that might surface and radically change the story they lived 25 years ago.
